Maternity Photography FAQ
Maternity photography is a chance to get outside your comfort zone. I offer maternity sessions in the studio or outdoors. The studio is located in the heart of the West Bottoms in downtown Kansas City. Maternity photography outdoors is done within KC city limits.
Maternity sessions are a time to let loose and love your changing body. Capturing such a fleeting moment allows you to look back at the moments that came and went so quickly.
Pregnancy comes in every shape and size and every pregnancy is beautiful. It is a privilege to capture such an important milestone and to make you feel beautiful and comfortable in your body during your photo session.

What to expect..
In the studio, you get to have a try on session before the photos begin. With 30 minutes you get to pick two outfits, with the hour session you get to choose up to four. I have a fully stock maternity closet that will fit every client.
Outdoors you get to choose one dress. You will send me what you're looking for and I will try and match what I have to fit your inspiration. I will then bring it to the outdoor session.
In the studio I have a stocked fridge of drinks and a basket of snacks for the little clients, and, of course, the parents!

When is the best time for maternity photography?
Ideally, I would schedule mom around 30-34 weeks along. This doesn't go to say we cannot do your session right up until your due date. 30-34 weeks is a perfect time where you are still "comfortable" and your belly is finally popping, it is a suggested time.
When should I schedule my maternity session?
Scheduling your session is pretty easy. I have an online booking system you can see my schedule HERE. Outdoor sessions are not as prominent as studio sessions. I have a lot more availability in the studio. Scheduling asap is always encouraged, but don't hesitate to reach out to see if we cannot find a day and time that is not on my schedule.
Do you suggest hair and makeup?
I always suggest to "complete the look". It's not in everyone's budget and it is definitely okay if you do it yourself! I will always suggest not having straight hair. Adding curls or volume always comes out better in photos.

Do you provide outfits for family?
At this time I only have outfits/dresses for mom. One day I hope to have a full family closet too.
What does my family wear?
I always encourage lighter colors vs dark. Black and darker colors are completely fine, though. Just stick to more mute colors than neon/bright colors. A healthy mix of patterns and textures with solids. Not too many patterns/textures and not too many solids, etc. Check the link below or check out my social media for past sessions for inspiration.

How long does it take to get our maternity photos back?
It takes anywhere from 7-14 days to receive your online gallery with edited images.
